Meta Tag Editing allows you to edit music metadata—such as album titles, artist names, genres, and album artwork—directly from the Conductor app. No need to connect to a computer or use third-party software; everything can be managed right from your hand.

What You Can Edit
Meta Tag Editing gives you control over both album-level and track-level metadata, plus the ability to update album artwork.
Album-Level Editing
You can edit the following fields for an entire album:
| Album Title | Album Artist | Year | Genre |
| Conductor | Composer | Publisher/Record Label |
Track-Level Editing
You can edit the following fields for individual tracks:
| Disc number | Track number | Track Title | Track Artist |
| Genre | Conductor | Composer |
Note: If even one track in an album has a different genre, conductor, or composer, the album will display as Various Genre / Various Conductor / Various Composer.
Album Cover Editing
- Replace album covers by selecting images directly from your mobile photo library
- Rotate covers if needed (this is particularly helpful when CD rips import rotated artwork)
Editing Album Metadata
Album-level editing allows you to change information that applies to the entire album, such as the album title, album artist, year, or genre.
- In the Conductor app, navigate to the album you want to edit and open the Album Detail View by tapping on the album.
- Tap the Edit icon (pencil) in the top-right corner to open the tag editor.
- Make your desired changes to any of the available fields.
- When you're finished, tap Save in the top-right corner to apply your changes.
Tip: When changing the album artist, you'll be asked whether to apply this change to all tracks in the album. This is useful for compilation albums where you may want to keep individual track artists.
Editing Track Metadata
Track-level editing gives you precise control over individual songs within an album.
- In the album's track list, locate the track you want to edit.
- Tap the Edit icon (pencil) next to the track you want to edit.
- The track editor will open. Make your desired changes to any of the available fields.
- Navigation tip: Use the arrow buttons next to the track number to easily move between tracks without closing the editor. This is helpful when editing multiple consecutive tracks.
- When you're finished, tap Save in the top-right corner to apply your changes.
Changing Album Artwork
You can replace album artwork directly from your mobile device's photo library.
- In the Album Detail View, tap the Edit icon (pencil) in the top-right corner.
- Tap on the album cover image in the editor.
- Select a new image from your mobile device's photo library.
- If needed, use the rotate button to adjust the orientation of the cover (this is particularly useful for fixing rotated artwork from CD rips).
- Tap Save to apply the new album artwork.
Note: If multiple albums are stored in a single folder on your Aurender, album covers cannot be changed for those albums.
Important Notes
Various Artist Albums:
- If even one track in an album has a different genre, conductor, or composer from the others, the album will display as "Various Genre", "Various Conductor", or "Various Composer" accordingly.
Merged Albums:
- Albums that have been merged using the ACS/A30 Manager cannot be edited through Meta Tag Editing.
Extended Storage Mode:
- If you're using Extended Storage (ES) mode with an ACS + Aurender combination, tag updates may take some time to reflect across both devices.
Storage Requirements:
- Meta Tag Editing only works with content on your Aurender's internal storage (HDD/SSD).
- Content from streaming services (Qobuz, TIDAL), NAS drives, or USB drives cannot be edited.
FAQ
Q: What happens if I edit the genre for one track in an album?
A: The album will display as "Various Genre" in your library to indicate that tracks within the album have different genres. The same applies to conductor and composer fields.
Q: Can I edit multiple tracks at once?
A: While you edit one track at a time, you can use the arrow buttons in the track editor to quickly navigate between tracks without closing the editor, making it efficient to edit multiple tracks in sequence.
Q: Why can't I change the album cover for some of my albums?
A: If multiple albums are stored in a single folder on your Aurender, album covers cannot be changed for those albums. Ensure each album is stored in its own separate folder.
Q: Will my edits affect the original files on my Aurender?
A: Yes, Meta Tag Editing updates the metadata tags in the actual audio files stored on your Aurender's internal storage.
