Smart Copy allows you to copy content from an external USB storage drive, or from a NAS (network attached storage) drive to your Aurender using the Conductor App. This guide covers the process for copying from an external USB drive connected to one of the Aurender's rear USB data ports.
Note: Smart Copy requires an Aurender with internal storage. If your Aurender does not have internal storage, you can still access and play content from USB drives, but the Smart Copy feature will not be available.

Please note: All music playback will be paused during the Smart Copy process, though copy tasks may be paused to play music and resumed when you're ready to continue.
Accessing the USB Drive
First, you'll need to navigate to your USB drive through the Conductor app.
- Select the Aurender button to browse the internal contents of your Aurender (as opposed to TIDAL or Qobuz).
- Tap the Folder tab to view the list of available storage devices.
- In the folder view, you'll see the root folder menu. If an external USB drive is attached to one of the Aurender's rear panel data ports, select the USB option to browse the drive's contents.
Selecting Content to Copy
Once you've accessed the USB storage area, you have flexibility in what you copy—you can copy an entire USB drive, or browse inside and select specific folders and files.
Option A: Copying an Entire USB Drive
- If you want to copy everything from a USB drive, simply tap the checkbox next to the drive name (e.g., "USB1").
- The "Copy selected items" button will automatically appear in the top right corner. Tap this button to proceed.
Option B: Selecting Specific Folders or Files
If you prefer to copy only certain folders or files from your USB drive:
- Tap the drive name itself (not the checkbox) to browse inside the USB drive.
- You'll see the contents of the USB drive, including folders and individual files. Each item has a checkbox next to it.
- Tap the checkbox next to each folder or file you wish to copy. You can select as many or as few items as you like—mix folders and files freely.
- Once you've made your selections, the "Copy selected items" button will automatically appear in the top right corner. Tap this button to proceed.
Choosing a Destination Folder
A window will appear asking you to select where you'd like to copy your content.
Navigation tip:
- Tap the radio button next to a folder name to select it as your destination
- Tap the folder name itself to browse inside that folder and view subfolders
Note: This step requires your Aurender to have internal storage drives installed.
Option A: Using an Existing Folder
If you want to copy directly to an existing folder (such as Music1):
- Tap the checkbox next to the folder name to select it as your destination.
- Tap "Start Copy" button to begin the process.
Note: If the target folder is full and you have a second Hard Disk Drive, the contents will be copied to the second HDD with the same folder structure as the first HDD.
Option B: Creating a New Folder
If you'd like to create a new folder or copy to a subfolder:
- Tap the "+" (plus) button at the top of the window to create a new folder.
- Enter your desired folder name in the text field.
- Tap "Create" to confirm.
- Once your new folder has been created, tap the checkbox next to the folder name to select it.
-
Tap the "Start Copy" button to begin the copy process.
Monitoring the Copy Process
Once you tap "Start Copy," the copy will begin immediately and a window will appear showing the copy progress/status. As noted above, all music playback will be paused during Smart Copy.
You can view the status and history of your copy operations at any time by tapping the "Copy Status" button in the top right corner of the Folder tab. From here, you can also pause or cancel ongoing copy processes if needed.
