Overview
If you see the "USB DAC connection lost" message in the Conductor app, it means your Aurender is no longer detecting your DAC over USB. This is most commonly caused by the DAC being powered off, a loose cable connection, or a communication interruption between devices.
In most cases, the issue can be resolved in a few simple steps without contacting support.
Before You Begin
- Make sure your DAC is powered on and set to receive USB input.
- Confirm you are using a certified USB 2.0 cable.
Troubleshooting Steps
Follow these steps in order. After each step, check if the DAC connection is restored in the Conductor app before moving to the next.
Step 1: Reconnect the DAC
- Unplug the USB Cable,
- Firmly reconnect it to Aurender.
This restores most connections.
Step 2: Power Cycle the DAC
If Step 1 did not resolve the issue:
- Disconnect the USB cable from your Aurender.
- Power off your DAC, then power it back on.
- Reconnect the USB cable to your Aurender.
- Check if the DAC is detected. (Your Aurender's front display will show you whether it's connected.)
Step 3: Power Cycle the Aurender
- Disconnect the USB cable from your Aurender.
- Power off your Aurender using the rear power switch. Wait for the unit to fully shut down.
- Power the Aurender back on and wait for it to fully boot.
- Power cycle your DAC (off, then on).
- Reconnect the USB cable.
- Open the Conductor app and check if the DAC is detected.
Step 4: Replace or Reseat the USB Cable
- Power off your DAC.
- Disconnect the USB cable from both the Aurender and the DAC.
- Try a different certified USB 2.0 cable, or firmly reseat the existing cable.
- Reconnect the cable to both devices.
- Power on the DAC.
- Open the Conductor app and check if the DAC is detected.
Still Having Issues?
If none of the above steps resolve the problem, please contact Aurender support by submitting a Remote Support request through the Conductor app (Settings > Help > Remote Support). Our team can diagnose the connection remotely.
FAQ
Q: Why does this message appear when I turn off my DAC?
A: The Aurender continuously monitors the USB connection. When the DAC is powered off, the USB link is lost, triggering the notification. This is normal behavior.
Q: Does it matter which USB port I use on my Aurender?
A: Use the dedicated DAC USB output on the rear panel of your Aurender (Audio USB).
